It was a good run, but the Terra Ceia Christian Knights unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of Ahoskie Christian by a score of 59-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Terra Ceia Christian has suffered yet this season.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryan Ange, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 20 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ange has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel VanEssendelft, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Even though they lost, Terra Ceia Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ahoskie Christian only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Ahoskie Christian had a senior duo take command as Noah Knowles scored 18 points along with five steals and JP Smith scored 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Smith scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Tyler Berryman, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Terra Ceia Christian's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5. As for Ahoskie Christian, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-15.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Terra Ceia Christian will take on Eastern Christian HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Eastern Christian HomeSchool is ranked 561st, while Terra Ceia Christian is ranked 554th). Ahoskie Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Victory Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd.
