Even though the Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades have not done well against the Bloomfield Bees recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Chambers/Wheeler Central had just enough and edged Bloomfield out 46-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Chambers/Wheeler Central has posted yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chambers/Wheeler Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elijah Heinz, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Beau Butterfield, who scored 16 points.
Bloomfield's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Smith, who scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Layne Warrior, who scored 12 points.
Chambers/Wheeler Central's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Bloomfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.
Chambers/Wheeler Central will head out on the road to challenge Niobrara/Verdigre at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Niobrara/Verdigre is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Bloomfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Mary's at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully St. Mary's focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Tuesday.
