Football Recap: Benbrook Starts Season with Win Against Castleberry

Benbrook gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They skirted past the Castleberry Lions 47-45. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bobcats also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

One reason for the win was Benbrook's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Austin Cross was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Jacob Carpenter got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

When it comes to explaining why Castleberry lost, don't look at Bryan Ceniceros. Despite the final result, he picked up 196 receiving yards and two TDs. Ceniceros was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 69 yards. Jaydin Locks was in the mix too, providing Castleberry with two scores.

Coming up, Benbrook will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Whitney at 7:30 p.m. As for Castleberry, they are taking a road trip to face off against South Hills at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
