Holmes and Currituck County are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. Holmes will square off against Currituck County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Holmes barely beat Pasquotank County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Holmes' pitcher stepped up to hand Pasquotank County a 14-0 shutout on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Aces, who have now won six contests in a row.

Maddox Bass was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Darius Oliver, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Fisher Bobbitt was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Currituck County got the win against Manteo on Friday by a conclusive 12-2.
Like Holmes, Currituck County also got a great game from a two-way player: Mason Beliles. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Beliles also tossed no walks, which is notable because Currituck County is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4 otherwise. Beliles was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Riley Anderson was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Caden Barth, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Holmes pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Currituck County, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Holmes couldn't quite get it done against Currituck County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-1. Can Holmes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
