The Attleboro Bombardiers are taking a road trip to square off against the King Philip Regional Warriors at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Attleboro is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
On Thursday, Attleboro needed a bit of extra time to put away North Attleborough. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Rocketeers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bombardiers have posted against the Rocketeers since April 18, 2019.
Nick Daley looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Michael Huntington, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Devin Fagan also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, King Philip Regional never let their opponents score on Thursday. They blew past Stoughton 6-0. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Black Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Not much got past Ryan Higgins, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep Stoughton off the board.
On the hitting side, Johnny Prater was excellent, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases. Vinny Menendez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
King Philip Regional's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Attleboro, their record now sits at 10-3.
Attleboro was able to grind out a solid win over King Philip Regional when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 6-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bombardiers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
