Powdersville proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 26) but on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-42 victory over Belton-Honea Path. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Powdersville has posted yet this season.
Powdersville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raegan Bryant, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Bryant pulled down eight or more rebounds. Makayla Assemian was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, Fountain Inn unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 68-20 loss at the hands of Wren. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Fountain Inn has scored all season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Fountain Inn struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Wren racked up 20 assists.
Powdersville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. As for Fountain Inn, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-5.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Powdersville have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Fountain Inn struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
