Bertie is 0-8 against Holmes since March of 2015 but things could change on Monday. The Falcons will welcome the Aces at 6:00 p.m. Bertie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
While Bertie's victory against North East Carolina Prep wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Falcons skirted past the Husky 4-2. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Husky recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Bertie let Tayvien Ward and Michael Thompson, III run wild. Ward went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Thompson, III went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Thompson, III a new career-high. Braiden Ambrose also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Holmes won against Hertford County on Monday with 20 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Everything went the Aces' way against Northeastern as they made off with a 20-2 victory. Considering the Aces have won seven matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Maddox Bass made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Myles Cobb, who went 4-for-5 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs. He is on a roll when it comes to hits, as he's now got three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Darius Oliver was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.
Holmes kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Holmes has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Bertie, their victory bumped their record up to 7-13.
Bertie suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to Holmes in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will the Falcons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
