The Southwest DeKalb Panthers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Clarkston 82-52 at home. That 82-52 margin sets a new team best for Southwest DeKalb this season.
Southwest DeKalb found their leader in underclassman Aaron Burks, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds. Burks also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Sam Turner was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with four steals.
The win was the third in a row for Southwest DeKalb, bringing their record for this year to 3-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Clarkston, they bumped their record down to 2-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southwest DeKalb will take on Westminster at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Clarkston will be home for the holidays to greet Holy Innocents Episcopal at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Holy Innocents Episcopal knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Clarkston likes a good challenge.
