Softball Recap: Alexander Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Alexander won against Newnan on Monday with 17 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Everything went the Cougars' way against the Rome Wolves as they made off with a 17-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won ten matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Erin Vineyard and Kenzie Townsend did most of the damage at the plate: Vineyard went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Townsend got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that Townsend has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Harris, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Alexander always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .793. The last time their OBP was this high was back in September of 2024.

The victory was the third in a row for Alexander, bringing their record up to 12-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Rome, they dropped their record down to 5-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Alexander will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wolves: the pair will be back at it again later today.
