The Jacksonville Golden Eagles came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points) and they left with even more momentum. They really took it to Faith Christian for the full four quarters, racking up a 75-39 win on the road. Given Jacksonville's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while Faith Christian is ranked 275th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Devin Barksdale was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with 3 steals. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Aaron Nixon, who scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Jacksonville's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Faith Christian, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jacksonville will square off against Gadsden City at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Faith Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Alabama School for the Deaf at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alabama School for the Deaf is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
