Brayden Cash was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. He has become a key player for Bethel Christian Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise.
In other batting news, Jamey Williams was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Bethel Christian Academy is undefeated when Williams posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Greenville Christian Academy got the win against New Life Christian Academy on Monday by a conclusive 15-5. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.
Like Bethel Christian Academy, Greenville Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Carter Letchworth. On the mound, he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Letchworth was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Suggs, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Jonathan Williams was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
Greenville Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.
Bethel Christian Academy pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Greenville Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bethel Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Greenville Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Bethel Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Greenville Christian Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 7-2. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
