Lee Academy is 8-2 against Schenck since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Pandas will head out on the road to challenge the Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. Lee Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
While Lee Academy's win against Searsport wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pandas had just enough and edged out the Vikings 10-9 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pandas have posted since May 1, 2024.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Schenck made sure to put some runs up on the board against Greenville on Friday. The Wolverines blew past the Lakers 15-2. The Wolverines have beaten the Lakers the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Lakers has come to flipping the script.
Cameron Atkinson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Schenck is undefeated when Atkinson posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trevor Vandine, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Schenck's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Wyman, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Schenck always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Lee Academy's record is now 4-2. As for Schenck, their record now sits at 5-3.
Lee Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Schenck in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 7-3. Will the Pandas repeat their success, or do the Wolverines have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
