Lowell moved up to 750 from 787 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Academic. The Cardinals climbed the ranks as a result of beating Washington 44-14.
Galileo and Marshall played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Galileo eventually emerging with a 37-32 victory. Dontell Jackson ran for 135 yards and caught two passes for 51 yards in the win.
The Lions' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kyle Nelson threw for 170 and one touchdown and Sebastian Brezeale had 57 yards receiving.
Galileo's Nelson and Ronzel Fox have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Nelson has thrown for 866 yards this season, while Fox, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 13 catches for 222 yards. Lincoln's Demetrius Williams leads the league in rushing yards with 742.
The top two teams in Academic will face off this week when first place Lincoln takes on second place Mission. Last week, the Mustangs, while Mission topped Balboa.
The Bears took down the Buccaneers 53-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
