Softball Recap: Whitewright Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Whitewright barely beat Dodd City the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 13-2 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won nine contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Taryn Minzenmayer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Joslyn Jones was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zarah Prieto, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double.

The victory (which was Whitewright's fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Dodd City, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Whitewright wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 16-6 victory against Bland on the 23rd. Dodd City has also already played their next game (against Saltillo), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
