The Resurrection Christian Cougars scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Weld Central 96-45 on the road. Resurrection Christian might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five contests by 24 points or more this season.
Resurrection Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ty Yoder, who scored 15 points along with nine assists and six rebounds. Those nine assists set a new season-high mark for him. Marcus Phillips was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with nine rebounds.
Despite the loss, Weld Central saw an underclassman step up: Elias Cornelius scored 15 points. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jace Cornelius, who scored eight points.
Resurrection Christian pushed their record up to 7-0 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.6 points per game. As for Weld Central, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3.
Resurrection Christian will take on University at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. University will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 196th, while Resurrection Christian is ranked fifth). As for Weld Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Berthoud at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Berthoud focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday.
