It was a good run, but the Smithville Seminoles unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 32-31 to Hatley. Smithville has not had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Several Seminoles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Halle Sargent, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Mary Haley Hood, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Smithville's loss dropped their record down to 10-17. As for Hatley, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.
Smithville will square off against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Houlka is no doubt hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses. As for Hatley, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Royals at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd.
