Moravia had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against the Newark Valley Cardinals as they made off with a 22-3 win.
Alexis Freier made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Freier was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Moravia got a massive performance out of Davida Jackson, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Hayley Murphy was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Looking ahead, Moravia will be playing at home against Tioga at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Newark Valley, they will face off against Union Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
