St. Dominic had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Howell Central Spartans with a sharp 10-3 victory. The Crusaders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Spartans, too.
St. Dominic got a great performance from Trey Peroutka as he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Those six strikeouts gave Peroutka a new career-high.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cooper Montgomery, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Henke, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
