The Norland Vikings can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They managed a 42-36 victory over Palmer Trinity. The win was all the more spectacular given Norland's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while Palmer Trinity is ranked 53rd).
Leading Norland to victory were Jasmine Johnson and Shania Swan. Johnson dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Swan scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. The game was Johnson's third in a row with at least ten points.
Norland's victory bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Palmer Trinity, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Norland will take on Palmetto at 5:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024. Hopefully Palmetto focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Wednesday. Palmer Trinity will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on NSU University at 5:00 p.m. on January 11, 2024.
