The LaBrae Vikings will challenge the Girard Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. LaBrae is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
On Friday, LaBrae needed a bit of extra time to put away Crestview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Rebels. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Riley Rowe made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Rowe was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shelby Bragg, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Vada Allen, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Girard came up short against Liberty on Friday and fell 9-5.
Kyra Bell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Girard's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-13. As for LaBrae, their victory bumped their record up to 20-6.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. LaBrae hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .367. However, it's not like Girard struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
