The North Callaway Thunderbirds's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 56-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of New Bloomfield. That's two games in a row now that North Callaway has lost by exactly eight points.
When it comes to explaining why North Callaway lost, one person who can't be blamed is Isiah Craighead. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The game was Craighead's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Clayton Moore was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
New Bloomfield's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Fuhriman, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Fuhriman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Nathan Fuhriman, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
North Callaway bumped their record down to 3-8 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for New Bloomfield, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-8.
North Callaway will face off against Eldon at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Eldon presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than North Callaway in Missouri (Eldon is ranked 140th, while North Callaway is ranked 433rd). New Bloomfield's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hermann at 6:00 p.m. on January 8th.
