The Johnson Atomsmashers won the last time they faced the Beach Bulldogs, and things went their way on Friday too. Johnson came out on top against Beach by a score of 53-42.
Despite the defeat, Beach had strong showings from Mariah Reid, who scored 22 points, and Heaven Walker, who scored six points. That was a full 52.4% of Beach's points, marking the 18th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Johnson is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Beach, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johnson will face off against Long County at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Long County is coming into the contest with six straight losses at home, meaning Johnson will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Beach, they will head out on the road to face off against Groves at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Beach is facing Groves at the right time seeing as Groves is stuck on a 21-game losing streak.
