Baseball Game Preview: McClintock Chargers vs. Central Bobcats

For the second straight game, McClintock will face off against Central. The Chargers will be playing at home against the Bobcats at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (McClintock has three straight wins, Central has 15 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

McClintock is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Central a 34-0 shutout on Monday. Give the Chargers' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Elias Baldwin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dallon Schmidt, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Cole Rentschler was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

McClintock kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 8.8.

McClintock's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.

Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. McClintock has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game.
