Meagan Maguire made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Herndon hadn't done well against Washington-Liberty recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Hornets came out on top against the Generals by a score of 12-7. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Hornets' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Emilia Korsvall was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Schopp, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI and two doubles.
South Lakes' victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Herndon, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. South Lakes hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Herndon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went South Lakes' way against Herndon when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as South Lakes made off with a 6-0 win. Do the Seahawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
