The St. Francis Spartans waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They enjoyed a cozy 50-33 win over Rosary. 50 seems to be a good number for St. Francis as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Leading St. Francis to victory were Natalie Doyle and T?a Rubino. Doyle dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, while Rubino scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Doyle has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Dolly Smith, who scored a point along with six assists and six steals.
St. Francis' win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Rosary, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Francis will take on Marian Catholic at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Marian Catholic is on a three-game streak of home wins, St. Francis a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Rosary on the road again on Tuesday and play against St. Laurence at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th. St. Laurence presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rosary in Illinois (St. Laurence is ranked 94th, while Rosary is ranked 404th).
