They snuck past Bradwell Institute with a 66-60 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Alyssa Staten was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 20 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last 13 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Reya Johnson, who scored 15 points along with eight assists and six rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Bradwell Institute lost, one person who can't be blamed is Parris Parham. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. Parham is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in the last three games she's played. Janiyah Blevins was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Statesboro pushed their record up to 19-3 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points per game. As for Bradwell Institute, their loss dropped their record down to 20-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Statesboro will face off against the Wolfpack at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenbrier has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 6. As for Bradwell Institute, they will head out on the road to face off against the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jenkins will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while the Tigers are ranked 28th).
