Central Michigan recap Sept. 26, 2012
Pewamo-Westphalia was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to second in Central Michigan. The Pirates defeated Fulton 22-6 earlier in the week.
Fowler extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Saranac, 9-7. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Fowler's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dustin Wirth threw for 132 yards and Jacob Schmitt had 66 yards receiving. On the ground Tyler Koenigsknecht chipped in 106 yards. Napoleon Watts helped Fowler's passing attack out by catching two balls for 32 yards.
Laingsburg's Jake Zielinski and Shaun McKinney have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Zielinski has thrown for 500 yards this season, while McKinney, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 11 catches for 337 yards. Koenigsknecht from Craig Koenigsknecht's team leads the league in rushing with 704 yards.
A big matchup in Central Michigan this week will be when Pewamo-Westphalia takes on the Redskins. Brad Weber's team is in second place, while Saranac is in third place.
The Eagles and the Redskins played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with the Eagles eventually emerging with a 9-7 victory. Koenigsknecht in the win.
