After four games on the road, Plainfield is heading back home. They will take on the Decatur Central Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Plainfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Friday.
Plainfield fought the good fight in their overtime game against Mooresville but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 53-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pioneers. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Plainfield in their matchups with Mooresville: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite their defeat, Plainfield saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Berkeley Williams, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Williams has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Hannah Menser, who scored 12 points.
Even though Decatur Central has not done well against Greenwood recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Decatur Central blew past Greenwood 74-46 at home. The win was just what Decatur Central needed coming off of a 81-52 loss in their prior game.
Plainfield bumped their record down to 14-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Decatur Central, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Plainfield didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Decatur Central when the teams last played back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 55-49 victory. Does Plainfield have another victory up their sleeve, or will Decatur Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
