Shenandoah hasn't had much luck against Yorktown recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Raiders will be playing at home against the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Shenandoah nor Centerville made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Raiders never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Raiders considering their two-run performance the match before.

Not much got past Olivia Watson, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Centerville off the board. Watson has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Tarran Mills was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted over her last 11 contests. Gabrielle Patrick was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Yorktown waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Golden Bears with a sharp 10-1 win.
Olivia Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Yorktown got a massive performance out of Ava Aul, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that Aul has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Jaromin, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Yorktown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Shenandoah pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Yorktown, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Shenandoah has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Yorktown struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Shenandoah suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to Yorktown in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Raiders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
