Jefferson County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over Munroe. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Ja'Lon Crumity was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Crumity was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Jefferson County is 5-2 when Crumity posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-16 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Marcos Vargas, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Carlos McBride also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Jefferson County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Madison County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Rickards on Thursday as they made off with a 14-4 win. The Cowboys haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Aiden Herring looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Micah Newman and Alden Richie did most of the damage at the plate: Newman scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Richie got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one triple. Brady Thomas was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
Jefferson County's record now sits at 7-18. As for Madison County, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
Jefferson County might still be hurting after the 21-0 defeat they got from Madison County in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
