After both having extra time off, the Trinity Christian Academy Eagles and the Orangewood Christian Rams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field one another at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Trinity Christian Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 23-4 margin over Edgewater last Thursday. The result was nothing new for Trinity Christian Academy, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Nataly Martinez and Athena Velez did most of the damage at the plate: Martinez scored four runs while going 4-for-4, while Velez went 2-for-3 with three runs and four RBI. Martinez also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Leigha Winters was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Trinity Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .677. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Orangewood Christian made easy work of Altamonte Christian last Thursday and carried off a 17-1 win. With that victory, the Rams brought their scoring average up to 7.3 runs per game.
Reagan Watkins was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Snelson, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
The win made it two in a row for Orangewood Christian and bumps their season record up to 3-4. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 11.5 hits in those games compared to only five in the others. As for Trinity Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
Orangewood Christian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Trinity Christian Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Orangewood Christian, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Trinity Christian Academy's sizable advantage in that area, Orangewood Christian will need to find a way to close that gap.
