The Middletown Islanders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their 15th straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 47-46 to Pilgrim. Middletown has not had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Middletown had strong showings from Ella Bolano, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals, and Lamaya Gonsalves, who scored 13 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gonsalves has scored all season.
Even though they lost, Middletown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Middletown dropped their record down to 1-15 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.6 points per game. As for Pilgrim, their victory ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-10.
Middletown will challenge the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pilgrim, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mariners at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Narragansett is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
