Basketball Game Preview: Lejeune Devil Pups vs. Northside - Pinetown Panthers

Lejeune hasn't had much luck against Northside - Pinetown recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Lejeune Devil Pups will look to defend their home court against the Northside - Pinetown Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lejeune comes in on three and Northside - Pinetown on six.

Last Friday, Lejeune didn't have too much trouble with Southside as they won 56-42.

Lejeune's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Devon Charles, who went 11 for 20 en route to 27 points and eight rebounds. The contest was Charles' ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Connor Shea, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards.

Lejeune smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Northside - Pinetown over Jones in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Northside - Pinetown blew Jones out of the water with a 65-25 final score. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 21 points or more this season.

Northside - Pinetown has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Lejeune, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Everything went Lejeune's way against Northside - Pinetown when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as Lejeune made off with an 84-59 win. Does Lejeune have another victory up their sleeve, or will Northside - Pinetown turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
