Despite the defeat, Bishop McLaughlin Catholic had strong showings from Aliana Arana, who scored four points along with 14 rebounds and five steals, and Talena McRoberts, who scored three points along with 11 rebounds and two steals. Arana hasn't dropped below two blocks for 14 straight games.
Bishop McLaughlin Catholic's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-13. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.0 points per game. As for Universal Academy, their victory ended a 15-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop McLaughlin Catholic will take on the Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Berkeley Prep will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Universal Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge the Lancers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
