The Ingraham Rams will head out to challenge the Garfield Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Ingraham is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, Ingraham came up short against Kamiak and fell 6-1.
Ingraham saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brendan Doyle, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Garfield). Everything went their way against Rainier Beach on Friday as they made off with a 38-1 win. The victory was nothing new for the Bulldogs as they're now sitting on three straight.
Nash Whitford and Logan Caravalho made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Whitford pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Caravalho tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Garfield is undefeated when Whitford allows one or fewer hits, but 5-7 otherwise. At bat, Whitford got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and three RBI, while Caravalho went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave Whitford a new career-high in hits (two).
In other batting news, Mateo Acevedo and Prince Davis did most of the damage at the plate: Acevedo went 3-for-5 with five runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI, while Davis went 1-for-2 with four runs, five RBI, and one triple. Those five RBI gave Acevedo a new career-high. Spencer Merwin was another key player, getting on base in three of his seven plate appearances with four runs and three RBI.
Garfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.4.
Ingraham's loss dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Garfield, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Ingraham might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Garfield in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
