Softball Recap: Coppell Has No Trouble Against Lewisville

Coppell got themselves on the board against Lewisville on Tuesday, but Lewisville never followed suit. They blew past the Farmers 16-0. The Cowboys might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Carly Mayer looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Coppell got a massive performance out of Natalie Howell, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits Howell has posted since back in February. Nevaeh Carter also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Coppell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Coppell and bumps their season record up to 15-11-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Lewisville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-19-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Coppell will take on rival Braswell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Lewisville is set to challenge their familiar foe Hebron at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
