Boron hasn't had much luck against California City recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Boron Bobcats will welcome the California City Ravens at 7:00 p.m.
Last Friday, Boron came up short against Bishop Union and fell 46-36.
The losing side was boosted by Moses Garcia, who posted six points and 13 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Morgan, who scored five points and six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Boron smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for California City, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Kern Valley on Friday as California City made off with an 88-64 victory. The Ravens have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 24 points or more this season.
California City's win came from a few key players Boron will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Avery 'Skywalker' Spears, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 20 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Cassius 'Hollywood' Brown was another key player, going 8 of 14 en route to 20 points.
California City is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.0 points per game. As for Boron, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Boron has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 37.6 boards per game. However, it's not like California City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.1 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Boron was dealt a bruising 103-36 loss at the hands of California City when the teams last played back in December of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Boron was down 57-21.
