Silver Lake scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Elba at home to the tune of 58-13. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-9.
Silver Lake got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sophie Schmidt out in front who scored 14 points along with six steals. Schmidt set a new season high mark in points with 14. Another player making a difference was Makenna Karr, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Gibbon, who are still winless after their fourth contest. They were outmatched by Arcadia/Loup City on the road and fell 53-11. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Gibbon in their matchups with Arcadia/Loup City: they've now lost eight in a row.
Emma Clark was Gibbon's leading scorer, having posted four points.
Carla Murillo-Corona held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Silver Lake and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for Gibbon, their loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4.
Silver Lake took their win against Gibbon in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 41-18. With Silver Lake ahead 30-10 at the half, the match was all but over already.
