With a playoff win on the line, Kilgore rose to the challenge on Friday. They put the hurt on the La Vernia Bears with a sharp 38-13 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won ten matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

The victory (which was Kilgore's ninth in a row) raised their record to 13-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.0 points per game. As for La Vernia, they moved to 11-4 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Kilgore will take on Celina in a holiday battle at at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Celina knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past 15 contests -- so hopefully Kilgore likes a good challenge. La Vernia does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
