Last Friday, Deerfield Beach came up short against the Cowboys and fell 60-51. While losing is never fun, Deerfield Beach can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 401st, while the Cowboys are ranked 198th).
Meanwhile, Stoneman Douglas earned a 57-45 victory over the Trojans on Wednesday.
It was another big night for Ethan Schwartzman, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. Ayden Mclean was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Deerfield Beach's loss was their 11th straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Stoneman Douglas, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-13.
Deerfield Beach skirted past the Eagles 42-40 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Will Deerfield Beach repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
