2B Southeast recap Oct. 16, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia, who took down 92nd ranked Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia, 38-12.
DeSales moved up to 127 from 182 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2B Southeast. The Irish were able to make the jump by defeating the Nighthawks 38-12.
Sterling Eastman and Dalton Estes gave Waitsburg/Prescott a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Eastman threw for 81 yards and two touchdowns, while Estes ran for 172 yards. Jada Alfred also contributed to the rushing game with 17 yards on the ground.
Craig Nelson was the best wideout in the league this week as Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia lost to DeSales. Nelson tallied seven receptions for 75 yards. Clay Shelton helped Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia's passing attack out by catching one ball for 11 yards.
Jesse Rawson made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Cardinals defeated Mabton. The 5-foot-10 senior racked up two sacks.
Waitsburg/Prescott's Eastman and Estes have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Eastman has thrown for 1143 yards this season, while Estes, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 23 catches for 431 yards. Bailey Rivas from Tri-Cities Prep leads the league in rushing with 932 yards.
Rivas of the the Jaguars is only 68 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in 2B Southeast this week will be when Asotin takes on Jeff Bartlow's team. At the moment, the Panthers are in fifth, while the Cardinals are in first.
Waitsburg/Prescott took down the Vikings 54-8 last week, the largest margin of any game. Estes caught one passes for 21 yards in the win.
