Softball Recap: South Wins Going Away Against Ridgeview

South made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Ridgeview, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The South Spartans blew past the Ridgeview Wolf Pack 13-4 on Tuesday. Considering the Spartans have won five contests by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

South let Kloie Wetmore and Zowey Estrada run wild. Wetmore scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Estrada scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That stolen base was Estrada's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Rebecca Vaca, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

South always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .556 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

South's record now sits at 6-3. As for Ridgeview, they dropped their record down to 1-2 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South will host Independence at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. South knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Independence likes a good challenge. As for Ridgeview, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against West at 4:00 p.m.
