Richfield Springs Central has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 21 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 72-37 win over Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton at home. Given Richfield Springs Central's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton is ranked 490th), the result last Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Cooperstown waltzed into their contest Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 67-53 win over Sherburne-Earlville.
Cooperstown's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Brody Murdock, who scored 16 points, and Charlie Lambert, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The contest was Lambert's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Jackson Crisman was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Richfield Springs Central's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. As for Cooperstown, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
