The Benjamin Buccaneers were the 54-43 winner over the Atlantic Christian Sharks when they last played one another back in January of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Benjamin took a 68-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Atlantic Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Benjamin's lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kaden Faniel, who scored 18 points along with 4 steals. Faniel scored a full 28.1% of Benjamin's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Buchanan, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 10 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Benjamin and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Atlantic Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Benjamin will take on Pine at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Atlantic Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sports Leadership & Management at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Sports Leadership & Management focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
