The Space Coast Vipers lost against the New Smyrna Beach Barracudas back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Space Coast took a 45-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of New Smyrna Beach. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Space Coast in their matchups with New Smyrna Beach: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Space Coast saw an underclassman step up: Phillayjah Carroll scored 18 points. Carroll has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lashiya Walker, who scored six points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead New Smyrna Beach to victory, but perhaps none more so than Paris Thompson, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Thompson continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Hailee Mokwe was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Space Coast's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for New Smyrna Beach, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-5.
