Neumann-Goretti is 7-2 against Conwell-Egan Catholic since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Saints will face off against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Neumann-Goretti had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt La Salle College on Monday. The Saints blew past the Explorers 9-3.
Steven Vanore was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Vanore was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Neumann-Goretti let Nick DiGiacomo and A.J Pellegrino run wild. DiGiacomo got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, while Pellegrino went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most runs DiGiacomo has posted since back in March of 2025.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Conwell-Egan Catholic). They never let Franklin Towne get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Sal Ruta looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Connor Landau, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Colin Laverty, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Conwell-Egan Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin Towne struck out ten times.
Neumann-Goretti's record now sits at 3-0. As for Conwell-Egan Catholic, their record is now 3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Neumann-Goretti has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Conwell-Egan Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 11 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
