Poteau has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Poteau Pirates and the Broken Bow Savages will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Poteau will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 255th, while Broken Bow is ranked 108th).
Last Saturday, Poteau ended up a good deal behind Wister and lost 63-48. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Poteau in their matchups with Wister: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Broken Bow, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 56-37 loss to North Rock Creek on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Broken Bow has scored all season.
Poteau now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Broken Bow, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
Poteau ended up a good deal behind Broken Bow in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, losing 62-46. Can Poteau avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
