Twentynine Palms barely beat Big Bear the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Twentynine Palms Wildcats were the clear victor by a 16-10 margin over the Big Bear Bears on Monday. Considering the Wildcats have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Jenica Silvas made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Silvas was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Twentynine Palms got a massive performance out of Briana Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Johnson has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Elysia Villanueva, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.
Twentynine Palms was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Twentynine Palms has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.3 runs. This is the second loss in a row for Big Bear and nudges their season record down to 3-2.
Looking ahead, Twentynine Palms will host Xavier Prep at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Big Bear, they will venture away from home to take on West Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
