The Broomfield Eagles pushed their score all the way to 71 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 90-71 to Fort Collins. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (70), Broomfield still had to take the loss.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joey Cook, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Blaes Kane, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Broomfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Collins only pulled down two offensive rebounds.
Jayce King was his usual excellent self, scoring 40 points along with five rebounds and two steals for Fort Collins. That makes it ten consecutive games in which King has scored at least a third of Fort Collins' points. Marcus Burkett was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five assists and three steals.
Broomfield's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Fort Collins, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Broomfield will challenge Fossil Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Fossil Ridge is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games. As for Fort Collins, they will head out on the road to challenge Prairie View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Prairie View will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 260th, while Fort Collins is ranked 105th).
