Union enjoyed a cozy 37-21 win over Edmond Memorial on Friday. Given Union's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked third, while Edmond Memorial is ranked 60th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Issac Covington was a one-man wrecking crew for Union as he rushed for 229 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.7 yards per carry. Covington was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards.
Edmond Memorial's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was David McComb, who threw for 177 yards and two touchdowns. Ciaran Pedulla was another key contributor, picking up 91 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Union's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-1. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31 points. As for Edmond Memorial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.
Union will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Edmond North at 7:00 p.m. As for Edmond Memorial, they will head out on the road to face off against Mustang on Friday. Mustang will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
